Bill and Betty Davis Family Gratitude Challenge

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT for Nebraska City!

The Nebraska City Community Foundation Fund (NCCFF) is thrilled to announce a brand-new Homegrown Fundraising Initiative, The Bill & Betty Davis Family Gratitude Challenge!

This exciting challenge is launched with generous gifts from two Nebraska City families who share a deep pride in our hometown.

The Davis Family:

Bill & Betty Davis made Nebraska City their home many years ago and quickly became community leaders. Bill built his law practice here, served as city and county attorney, and even made the first-ever donation to the Foundation. Betty shared her love of people as a teacher, volunteer, and Arbor Lodge docent. Together, they raised five children who continue their legacy of giving back. Today, their children Denise and Mark are carrying forward this incredible spirit of gratitude. Mark and the Davis family have generously stepped up to launch this challenge, inspiring all of us to invest in the future of Nebraska City.

The VanderVeen Family:

Mark Davis and his family are joined by additional generous challenge donors, entrepreneurs, Kiel & Mimi VanderVeen. Both proud graduates of Nebraska City High School, they pursued degrees dedicated to service (Kiel from UN-L in Accounting, and Mimi from Doane University in Language Arts and Education). After earning their degrees, they came HOME to live, work, and, most importantly, serve. Kiel opened a financial planning firm where his business is people. Mimi, after serving as a secondary educator, continues to give her time and talents as a homemaker, family business partner, and community leader, currently serving as President of Keep Nebraska City Beautiful. For the VanderVeens, the heart of their work is PEOPLE.

Together, these families are challenging all of us to grow our community’s endowment and ensure that Nebraska City thrives for generations to come. With nearly $1.2 million already in our endowment and more than $360,000 granted back into local projects, this challenge is the next step in shaping a strong, vibrant future for our hometown.

Join us in celebrating the Bill & Betty Davis Family Gratitude Challenge, and stay tuned for how YOU can be part of this powerful investment in people, place, and purpose.
